The September-October contests were open to all
and we received entries from across the world. This time again, we were privileged to
have our link featured in Thresholds, the international short story forum of Chichester University, United Kingdom. Special thanks to the editorial team of Thresholds
and all those who popularized our contests and participated in them.It was a tough job to judge the entries that were incredibly good. Moreover, we had blind judgement this time, done by Prof. PJ Philip of the Department of English.
Here are the results:
Winner: Dr. Naina Dey, Assistant Professor of English at Maharaja Manindra Chandra College, Kolkata, University of Calcutta for her poem 'Solitude'.
Judge's comment:
"Across the mediums, the heart as all art 'thuds' and impacts other sympathetic heart strings with subliminal persuasion. Arts stirs up the self only to let it subside into silence, occasionally leaving subjective, irretrievable traces. The intangible eddies surging within, as one encounters a visual may often step through the sieve of one's soul. The piece 'Solitude', however, seems to cleverly trap those vibes in their white heat! - reflecting a skill and artistry in capturing and converting the entelechy of the object in matching words with vigour, power and verisimilitude. The effort doesn't show either. Commendable."
We picked up three poems that stood out among the submissions for their emotional intensity and reflective thought. Their authors get honourbale mention.
Glenn Andrew Barr, MA Creative Writing, University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom for his poem 'Blood Sitter'.
Minu Varghese, Lecturer in English, College of Applied Sciences, Dhanuvachapuram for her poem 'Angst'
Mohammad Zahid, Bank Officer, Anantnag, Kashmir for his poem 'The Voice of Silence'.
