Writers' Forum of Sacred Heart College is proud to announce the release of Lakeview International Journal of Literature and Arts, Vol.1, No.1 February 2013. Click here to read it. You can also download it as a PDF file from the link if you like.

The present issue contains work by internationally acclaimed writers/artists like Hanif Kureishi, K Satchidanandan, Meena Alexander, Shauna Gilligan, Alan Summers, George Szirtes, Sudeep Sen, Gerrard Williams, Balbir Krishan, Bijay Biswal and so on. It also features work by the winners of the Creative Writing Contests by Writers' Forum conducted in Heart-Bytes and also the work by the emerging writers of India and abroad.

Poetry Garden

Sreelatha Chakravarthy, our visiting writer from the reading session on 27th January 2013, has sent us poem, which she wrote soon after our gathering. And Writers' Forum members have made a poster that juxtaposes the moments captured.

Poetry Reading Session in a Sunlit Garden by the Pool

Writers' Forum members had a reading session at the garden behind the English Department on 27th January 2013. Visiting writers Nabina Das, Debra Castillo, Binu Karunakaran and Sreelatha Chakravarthy read out from their work and talked about literary festivals, their career as writers, writing residencies and their upcoming books. Club coordinators Jose Varghese and Aravind Nair read out their work as well, and the forum members, Jude Lopez, Lissy Jose, Rosemary Tom, Ahalya and Dayana joined in with poems, short stories, excerpts from their novels and flash fiction. Sister Myrrah, a special guest, talked about the influence of the mystic poet Teresa of Avila (St.Teresa of Jesus) had in her life and her own ambition to become a poet. The readings would trigger her passion, she said. The college principal Fr.Prasant Palackappilil was also present, and he talked about his environmental concerns and revealed that he was petting with the idea of writing a novel based on the theme.
