THE RIDDING ROAD- Meenakshi Manoj( I DC Economics 2019-20122 Batch)

She smiled so wide that her cheeks started  to hurt. Raindrops rolled over her raincoat.Bike was fast , she felt cold and shivered. Her mouth started to mutter but her father put one of his finger between her teeth ,while one on the bike so that she doesnt bite her tongue. She said to him" papaa there comes over riding road..go deep and get that hole".They rode into the holes  on the road splashing the water as a wonderla ride. This was the only reason fors he would get up early in the cold rain for the school. Her father was her hero. She loved him very much. She always insisted to go with him.she loved  her riding road with holes. She used to make funny noises" peeeewwww" Others used to adore her cute little voices.
Sitting in the varanda and waited for her hero to come. They had decided to go on a ride.Cutting throgh the breezing wind, seeing the green fields along her way and talking endlessly about her day,she was all driven in her world. It was late ,the birds got on their nest chirping, sky was red and the sun was hiding behind the trees and  she stared at the still gate.  Suddenly a bell rings  her mother  attends it and starts to cry  loud ,people coming to their home and looking at her pathetically. She scrummbled her face in annoyment.Suddenly she saw some people carrying somthing covered in white cloth. She got all exited"carry me pls"she yelled. Her mother hold her aside and wept with sorrowful tears. When the cloth was taken she was shook. Her father was layed . His eyes were closed, face was pale. She went by and asked "papaa get up i dont like this, why didn't you came on time i wont talk to, you get up" her mom held her back and cried loud"no dear dont say that he loves you...but he left us".She was shook."your father went to the ride alone he shouldn't have...".His head had a huge stich and his bike was no where to be seen.
She knew now.Her hero was no more. She sat all alone in the corner of the house closed her eyes. She heard a voice"hey champ! How's my girl.My champ never cries she is strong. Remember what papa used to say life is always an irony child. You never have you want, but you should never stop searching for it.I am always in you, so dont worry about that. You are my princes. You will always find your way .I am in you!"

THE MOST BLAMED - PREETHI PS (I DC ECONOMICS 2019-2022 batch)

I was like sitting on bramble.....and was eating the pain of thousands of thorns piercing in. The school and the Crowd felt like hell and devils because every eyes rushed upon us....,that five girls sitting with same emotion and the same attire. That was a girls gang which was very well known to everyone. On that day, everyone watched the silence of the gang for the first time .We were a flower with six petals and that day marked the fall of a petal....
While sitting with a lot of thoughts passing through mind ....I thought how I started that day.......,
"24th October 2018, a normal working day.....On that morning I was a little lazy to get up......but the "blub" sound from my phone brought a happy news that we six were going out on that evening to our favourite place,a park in the market junction. We together made a lot of sweet memories and we had never lost any chances to enjoy.
Our class starts on 8.50 am and I was late on that day too as usual..... But an unusual crowd was waiting infront of the school gate and a murmur rose....that one of the students committed suicide and there was no class. I was not in a mood to be invited by such a news.l really cursed that person meaninglessly as I hate suicides.
But an incredible fact was waiting there to bruise the hearts......'SHE LEFT' ".
No one had noted someone's silence among us.She was silent for the past two days and shared nothing with us. I heard the blabbers of thousand mouth and all were shooting upon her companions. No one believed our words because we were unknown about her reasons. It was her surprise to everyone....even her mother and brother ,who looked after her like their princess.
The silence, pain, shock and blames marked it as the worst day in my life. Her decision on a piece of rope created a big gap at her home and among us. I counted a number of staring eyes at me as we were together as shadows to each other for 5 consecutive days, the most loving tour days which was only a few days ago. But I was helpless to find the reason behind her ...... However I tolerated that day. I could not find even a single group photo in which she posed without holding my hands or shoulders. That memories hurt the most and I felt her presence everywhere....and all time she smiles like nothing had happened. I am the most blamed for being a friend of her because my friendship couldn't understand her. I blamed myself for not taking any of her sorrows seriously. I still remember our last chat and her last words " GOOD NIGHT AND SEE YOU TOMORROW"

Aparna – As she has stepped in on the next leg of her travel…

Aparna in ancient Indian tradition is Parvati, and the name was on account of her severe tapas to attain her goal – fasting to the extent of even avoiding leaf (parna ) for her food. Aparna B Anilkumar I B Com Taxation and Finance division, was endearingly called as Parukutty (Parvati) by her family.  She was admitted to Sacred Heart College, on her merit as a sports person.  She excelled in throw ball, soft ball and base ball.  Represented the state in soft ball at national level. She was poised to be a great promise, apparently all determined and confident. People who knew her found her bold and daring.

However, what humans propose is not always accomplished. Last week she was with us, today she is not around. This is human life, this is human mystery – which humans have been trying to grapple with from time immemorial.  Sri Buddha defined it as suffering, the reality of life – dukha satya.

Now dukha  is a satyam for her beloved family – her mother Binu, her father Anilkumar (employed in the middle-east), her two sisters – Anjali, the elder, and Arunima, the younger.  We witnessed the terrible anguish the family is suffering from. May God of all consolation being them solace is my prayer today.  Let that be the prayer of all of us. Let us do our best to console the family and hold them close to our hearts in solidarity of prayer.

It is also a time for us to reflect on how we deal with the reality of dukha or suffering in our life. Suffering in silence is one mode, but a healthier mode is to be willing to share our sufferings with someone. Sometimes, we find ourselves at a loss to have someone with whom we can share our pain.  Dear students and staff, let us make it a point that we will determinedly do that. That we will train ourselves to share our pain.  And each of us will be willing to listen to the sufferings of our fellow learner

And I would like the students to take this to your heart that even when you find the members of the staff or the Principal, dealing with you strictly, being severe in our treatment regarding assignments, attendance, campus discipline etc. please, please feel free to approach the staff, HoD, your principal, or the Counsellor when you feel troubled.  We are there for you, in spite of our severe demeanour.

In Hindi we say, Khuda ko pyara ho gaya! It is a believer’s statement regarding fellow human’s departure – become beloved to God!  Let us rest assured in that hope that she has become dearly beloved to God.

Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankind;
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.
Let us all remember this and hold her close to our heart and pray that she rests in peace.

And as the poem by Fr. Sajan goes:

I hope in the Lord that Aparna’s family will find the end of the rain of this suffering, and see the light of dawn, and so too will Aparna find rest beside the source of eternal rest!

Letter to My Best Teacher- Mary Angel Thomas

This letter was selected as the best letter in the letter writing competition conducted by College Union on Teachers' Day

Dear Johnson sir,
You know, I used to think that we’re the unlucky ones because each time we get a free period, you  magically show up out of nowhere and  take class that hour. Every Saturday when others sit at home, we’re the ones who have extra class. And as for the holidays , we’ll be piled up with a hundred assignments to do. We are probably the only ones who would have written so many retests till date. Its almost natural for any student to think “Ee Sirnu verre onnum cheyyan ille”.
But then now I realize how lucky we are to have such a dedicated teacher like you. When other teachers enjoy their free time leisurely, you choose to refer an extra book to help us with our studies. I remember one of my teachers  telling me about your legendary stories of teaching 3 different classes and that too in the same hour. You sir, are amazing! I must say, you are worthy of all praise. Such dedication you show! You are probably one of the very few people who have proved that they teach out of passion and not out of the need for money.
We are indeed the lucky ones because we’ve got you and we’re certainly proud to have a teacher who covers every nook and corner of his subject. You’re a teacher who never gets tired of repeating what we don’t understand even for a 100 times. Only you would do that. You make sure that each and every student of yours understands every bit of what is being taught and only you would take retest after retest until we all get good marks and learn well enough.
On this teachers’ day, I’d like to thank you for being the wonderful teacher that you are. I’ve just known you for a barely year and a half but I’m feel extremely. This college sure is very lucky to have you as one of its contributors for the past 36 years. I’m sure each student you have taught will be thankful to you. Never change, okay? You are awesome the way you are. ‘Sir chumma pwoli aanu sire’.And by the way, I forgot to wish you…So here goes: Happy Teachers Day! J
Yours sincerely,
Mary Angel Thomas,
II Bcom ca.
